It's Monday, the world is WRONG and I am depressed. I can't believe all these McCain supporters. I feel hopeless. It makes me want to just leave the country and give up on the whole thing. We should be debating HOW to provide the best healthcare for everybody, how to switch alternate energy sources. Instead people are still debating whether or NOT to provide healthcare for everyone, whether or not to switch to solar, wind, or other alternate energies, whether or NOT to recognize the rights of all. this country is f****d and it's going to stay that way and END that way. At the heart of the birth of this nation is a love affair with the gun. Out country was founded by rich white men who said "all men are created equal" but really meant all rich white men are created equal and none of them should have to pay taxes. Two hundred years the priorities are the same.
My mom is a progressive Jew with money and friends with money. I'm not sure if my mom and dad make 250 K or more combined anymore, probably, but their friends do. And many of them are saying TOO H**L with the world, "I'm gettin' mine." They'll vote for McCain or whatever Republican drone of the week because they want lowered taxes. Tax the poor and feed the rich!
Our country was founded by rich white men who didn't want to pay taxes and 200 years later it is still ruled by them. What I don't get is this: Why are poor people voting for McCain? The number of people who make less than 250K greatly outnumber those who do. Why are middle American crackers willing to vote for Republicans who will let them keep their guns, fight more wars, and protect them from 'gay marriage" and "rampant abortions" in exchange for higher taxes. Republicans tout less government but fiscal responsibility but really just tout lower taxes for the rich and less government for the poor. Where are their small government priorities when it comes to social welfare?
Why are War Vets repeatedly electing presidents who won't pay for their healthcare when they get wounded?
If there is any good in this madness, this stupidity that prevails it is this: Things will get worse and worse, quicker, bringing our American society to a critical breaking point in which we wake up and reform this nation into a more sensible whole.
