Trusting Steel, Trusting Plastic

My lips trust the taste and feel
Of plastic and steel,
Believe it more than dirt and dust.
Which are more deserving of my trust.

We have created a nest of lies in which to live in.
We fear things which cannot hurt us,
Beings of myth and phantasy.

According to Eula Biss, we would be as likely to be trampled by a minotaur as to be assulated or robbed by a member of the opposite race.

Most theft occurs by a member of the same race.
Most murder and rape by someone we know.

And the steel can contains a poison.
One widely accepted and administered daily by about 90% of the populace, especially children.

But just because it’s widely consumed doesn’t mean it’s good for you.

Dirt would be less harmful.
It’s where carrots and potatoes come from.
I think apples grow on trees but I’ve never picked one.
I get my fruits and vegetables from a grocery store where they come wrapped in plastic.

Division of labor has spared us the chore of murdering our own meat,
And of sowing what we are later to reap.

Reapless fruit,
Innocent as pork wrapped in plastic.
